Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) often referred to by her stage title Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP from the label on October 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, came out on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her debut music on the internet in 2012. Her first album was the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she released new music through the internet including Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on the track "Sweat It Out" on July 21. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at the time was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The news was released on December 8th, that she'd signed with Dreamville Records. In the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat, along with Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song. She also performed at the opening of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was also featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas, her labelmates. On July 16, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. In November, she dropped singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On the 13th of November she released two more singles: The No One and Pedigree. She performed with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On the 16th of November, and dropped the song as a single by herself for her first album. In February of 2019 an official music video released for the song. It already has over three million viewers on YouTube during its initial week. In December 2018, she performed as part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
